levels of certification

HELP Standard Certification  

  • Trainee is trained and certified to use HELP to manage program safety.

  • A minimum of 12 hours of training is required.

  • Must be re-certified annually.

  • Not certified to train others.

HELP Instructor Certification  

  • Trainee is certified to train and certify others in his/her program to use HELP techniques.

  • Must attend an instructor certification workshop.

  • A minimum of 24 hours of training is required.

  • Must be re-certified annually.

HELP Authorized Provider

  • Trainer is certified to train and issue HELP Standard Certification outside of the sponsoring agency according to guidelines based on a written agreement.

  • Must have a valid, active HELP Instructor certification for at least one year.

  • Must have completed at least one of the following:

    • Lead two full HELP training sessions in one year.

    • Assist in four HELP training sessions led by a certified HELP Instructor.

    • Participate in at least 18 hours of HELP related in-service led by CAPS.

  • Must be re-certified annually.
